Connecting Contact Closure to Blue Wire

Solution How do I use the blue wire on the JetStream Dimmer?
[--- UPDATED: 1/16/2009 2:01:22 PM BY AGENT: Anthony D'Lima ---]

The blue wire on the JetStream dimmer is an input only.

It has to be connected to a set of dry contacts only.

A pair of dry contacts can be connected between the blue wire and the white wire (neutral) on the JetStream dimmer.

It is very important to make sure that there is no voltage being sent on the blue wire because even the lowest voltage will cause the transistor in the dimmer to blow.

If you have to connect the blue wire over a long run (over 50ft), then it is advisable to connect your output from your contact closure to a relay (12V available at any electronic store like RadioShack, for example) with a dry pair of contacts, somewhere close to the dimmer. Then connect from the relay to the blue and white wires.
